Your privacy is important to us at EQL Data. Therefore, we're committed to being level with you about what data we collect, when, and how we use and protect it.
EQL Data Inc. is incorporated under the laws of Ontario, Canada, and our registered corporate office is:
EQL Data Inc.
#7 - 46 Becher St.
London, ON
N6C 1A5
This privacy policy outlines what data we collect and how, and is pretty boring to read unless you absolutely have to.
What is EQL Data Inc. and what does it do for you?
EQL Data Inc. is a provider of the EQL Geosync, API, and OnWeb extension products for Microsoft Access, and provides storage, hosting, and recovery services for data stored using any of the three.
What personal information does EQL Data Inc. collect and store?
If you sign up for EQL beta testing news, we collect and store your email address.
If you choose to contact us, we will use your email to respond or send you communications relevant to your inquiry topic, and store it for reference. We also maintain logs of any written transcriptions, email, or instant messages.
We do not require any of your personal information in the intial trial period for any of our products. After 30 days, or earlier at your option, we collect:
Your billing information, including your (business) name, billing address, phone number, and email if creating an EQL Data Inc. subscription for any of our products.
In addition to the above, if you choose to subscribe to EQL services using your credit card, we collect your card information, including cardholder name, billing address, card type, card number, and CVV.
Note: We do not store your CVV, as that would be illegal.
What information from my databases does EQL Data Inc. store?
Upon using any of our tools, EQL stores all of the tables, information stored therein, as well as macros, forms, modules, reports and any system information, properties, or linkage information in your Microsoft Access database. This information is stored in a proprietary format on hosting space leased by EQL Data Inc. in the United States.
What does EQL Data Inc. use my personal information for?
We at EQL Data Inc. will only use the information you provide in a few limited contexts:
If you signed up for beta testing emails, the email you provided will only be used to contact you about new technological and business developments relevant to beta testers. We will not use the email to communicate for any other purposes, including any form of product promotion or offer.
Contacting us will only lead to responses to your email (by humans) relevant to your inquiry. Subsequent to resolving the topic of your inquiry or the email exchange, your email may be retained indefinitely in our internal databases for record keeping. It will never be used for the purposes of solicitation or promotions, except at your request.
Any billing information you provide will be used only for the purposes of settling accounts, and will never be used to contact you for any other reason. The information may also be used to verify your identity in the case of any billing dispute or inquiry.
What does EQL Data Inc. do with the databases it stores?
EQL Data Inc. endeavours to minimize the internal distribution and visibility (to all but computers) of your database information. However, in the event of code errors, customer complaints, or other performance problems, we reserve the right to copy portions or all of your database(s) and use the data for internal testing and future development. It is possible that the information you provide will be visible to programmers at EQL Data Inc., and may run through countless computer-run tests every day. None of the information is shared outside of EQL Data Inc.'s internal development team, and no releases, changelogs, or other information about EQL's products will contain any references to your database(s) or their contents.
Does EQL Data Inc. share my information or database(s) with others?
EQL Data Inc. will never share any of your personal or business information with any other entities, unless we are obliged to do so under applicable laws or by the order of the competent authorities.
How does EQL Data Inc. protect my information?
EQL Data Inc. was co-founded by a group of paranoid programmers who despise lax security standards, email spam, and solicitation. Aggressive organizational and technical measures, including locked-down servers accessible only through securely encrypted connections or sandboxed web-frontends, and very few people within our company who will ever see or deal with your personal information, ensure that your data is only visible to relevant personnel within EQL Data Inc., or to others with whom you wish to share it. The word 'relevant', used in this context, involves people who either process the acquisition of your information, or who need it for the fulfilment of their duties.
Please note that the security governing visibility of your OnWeb or API-enabled Microsoft Access database is identical to security for a classic Access database; if you distribute the database file (in this case, a URL) to someone, they can now see and modify the contents of the database.
