Greyed out Tools|Add-Ins menu
Updated 2009-09-24 | Filed under Geosync | PDF
Question
I read in the Geosync Installation Guide that I should go to the Tools menu in Access and pick Add-Ins, then EQL Data - Activate. But the Add-Ins menu is greyed out (disabled). Why?
Answer
If you open an old Access database in a newer version of Access (for example, opening an Access 97 database in Access 2003), it won't let you change anything about that database, including installing any add-ins.
If you want to activate EQL Data in an old database, use the Tools | Database Utilities | Convert Database menu option and convert your database to a newer version.
Alternatively, run EQL Data in the version of Access in which your database was first created.
